Silicon Valley pet Clinic and Urgent Care is looking for a Certified Veterinary Technician to join our team. We have been serving the City of Santa Clara for over 30 Years . We offer a competitive salary and a benefit package. This will be effective after your probationary 30 days of working period. It includes health insurance, medical benefits and 20% off employee pet care expenses. Still getting continual education? We support students. Full time employees work a total of 5 days per week full time and qualify for benefits. Part time employees work a minimum of 3 days per week and are expected to contribute at least 24 hours per week. In order to qualify for employee benefits you must work a minimum of 4 days per week full time accumulating at least 35 hours on the clock.
College degree or diploma from an accredited U.S. Veterinary Technician College is required to qualify as a Veterinary Technician. You must show proof of credentials and certifications. A background check will be performed. A negotiable entry level position such as kennel technician may be granted if not certified in the state of California. Ask management for more Details.
Experienced in restraint of animals of differing species such as; canines, felines, lagomorphs, occasional rodents such a Guinea pigs. Blood draws and catheter placement are appreciated Basic blood profiles and knowledge to run labs with the doctors supervision
High school diploma or equivalent
Knowledge of : Veterinary nursing care and some reception skills appreciated
Veterinary terminology must be kept professional in within conduct
Anesthetic protocols and monitoring
Emergency protocol appreciated and willing to learn The ability to : Work in a physically demanding environment
Lifting no more than 35 lbs or whatever is your maximum capability without assistance, then lifting with assistance; understanding proper safety limits and protocol.
Standing or kneeling for long durations of time
Working a full time or part time schedule, demanding at some points, staying over the clock for emergencies

knowledge in laboratory equipment such as HM5, Vet Scan 2, Vet Scan Pro, Vet scan UR, and willing to learning any unknown software. Performing laboratory testing, proper handling and processing of blood collections and their tests, fecal floatation tests, urine dipstick tests, Urinalysis and skin scrapings, Processing xrays, sending xrays, ordering xrays and proper digital storing.
Prepping the doctors equipment and the patients for surgery. Assisting doctor in surgeries & treatments. Monitoring animals during & post-surgery
Maintenance of hospital equipment and inventory in accordance with established procedures.
expressing anal glands and suture removals, clipping nails
Administering medications and IV fluids
Technician appointments such as in room vaccinations with parents
Pharmacy responsibilities including refill knowledge and the dispensing of medication
Perform dental cleaning under the doctors supervision
Assist the doctor with reception skills such as setting up appointments in Avimark, Demand Force or Weave
Performing canine insemination, labor and delivery
