Veterinary Technician
The Police Department’s Animal Care and Adoption Center provides veterinary care to animals impounded in the shelter.  Approximately 5000-6000 animals are impounded annually.   The Veterinarian is supported by a full-time Veterinary Technician and two veterinary assistants.  As a team, approximately 2000 spay or neuter surgeries are performed annually as well as providing other preventative and critical animal care. Under the direction of the supervising veterinarian, the duties of the Licensed Veterinary Technician include: Provide compassionate care to all patients.  Perform pre- and post- op care for canine and feline patients. Assist with surgeries, taking/monitoring vitals, assist veterinarian in administering anesthesia. Administer fl
