We’re looking for a veterinarian to join our passionate team at GCHS. As a full-time veterinarian, you’ll work an average of 36-40 hours per week. Shelter animals will be the priority with 2 monthly clinics for the public. To qualify, you must hold a current veterinary license in Texas and maintain up-to-date credentials.
Job Overview
You’ll be responsible for the herd health of the animals in our care. Population of 250 – 300 dogs and cats. Spay/neuter surgeries and other surgeries as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Physical exams on new animals entering the shelter
- Conduct sterilization surgeries and post-operative exams
- Supervise controlled substance management
- Diagnose injuries and sickness and prescribe needed care
- Perform heartworm treatments
- Communicate with staff and leadership on any training or staff concerns
- Assist with other duties as needed
Working Relationships:
You’ll work closely with technicians and support staff in a large no-kill shelter.
