This role oversees all medical operations of the hospital department to include clinical, surgical, and daily operations. Responsibilities include workflow management, supervision, development, and scheduling of veterinary support staff, and ensuring the effectiveness of the department's policies and protocols. 

Some Primary Responsibilities Include: 

• Serve as direct manager/supervisor of our veterinary technician team and hospital operations 

• Work directly with the Executive Director of Medicine (Owner/DVM) and Executive Practice Director in a coordinated effort to ensure proper hospital protocols, medicine and quality control are produced daily 

• Serve as a hands-on floor manager to train, guide, and direct the veterinary technician team 

• Oversight of inventory management 

• Direct daily and monthly hospital team meetings 

• Create and support a positive work culture and environment for our employees 

• Complete veterinary technician work schedule. Maintain 3 weeks in advance schedules that are published for staff ensuring all hospital positions are staffed appropriately 

• Report directly to the Executive Practice Director with a dotted line to the Executive Director of Medicine (Owner/DVM)

• Previous experience as a Veterinary Technician
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role
• Advanced knowledge in veterinary operations and procedures including surgery, laboratory techniques, digital imagery, pharmaceuticals, and critical or emergency medical care
• Ability to work on multiple tasks with interruptions in an energetic environment with the pressure of periodic heavy workloads
• Ability to anticipate and identify problems and needs and solve them and/or communicate them appropriately
• Excellent skills in effective conflict resolution
• Capability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
• Ability to communicate complex processes/concepts to a wide variety of people, both in written and verbal form
• Computer literate knowledge in Microsoft Office and the ability to utilize required veterinary clinic software
• Ability to provide excellent customer service and to build successful relationships with the client population
