Dogs, cats, horses, small ruminants, cows, backyard poultry: we provide for most and care for all. Good clientele, great staff and a supportive team of doctors would like to talk with you. We refer all after-hours small animal emergencies to numerous emergency care options nearby. We have multiple, excellent referral facilities in our area. Our goal is to provide top quality care at reasonable financial costs and facilitate time for our staff to enjoy the rewards of our great profession. A small animal medicine internist and surgeon, an individual who relates to equine clientele, a person interested in developing a geriatric medicine program, or any veterinarian who enjoys or would like to enjoy being a mixed animal practitioner will want to explore the opportunities we present. We are located in beautiful Frederick County Maryland, in close proximity to two major metropolitan areas but within the shadow of the Catoctin Mountains. We cherish mixed practice, mixed values, mixed cultures and those who want to make this mixed up world better.
Walkersville Veterinary Clinic is looking for veterinarians to join our 5 doctor team! We are a full-service mixed animal practice that provides excellent service to canines, felines, and large animals. At WVC, we have been focusing on the well-being of our patients and their families in our community since 1969!
More about WVC:
If you have an interest in LA, we see large animals including bovine, equine, small ruminants, and poultry!
We provide ambulatory services for horses, small ruminants and cattle.
We also provide at home euthanasia upon request for our established clients.
We have experienced and dedicated staff that have been with WVC for 25+ years!
Our facility offers a digital dental x-ray, digital x-ray, 4 ultrasound units (free-standing unit, point-of-care unit, and two mobile ultrasound units for ambulatory work), a mobile digital x-ray system and LA endoscopy.
Our doctors enjoy weekly morning meetings and monthly lunch meetings with support staff.
We partner with our local cat rescue, Friends for Life, Rocky’s Horse Rescue, and various other rescues.
In addition to these partnerships, we also participate in our local Humane Society event to provide funds for the spaying and neutering of cats.
Our Associate Veterinarian role:
New graduates or experienced doctors are welcome to apply!
We offer a mentorship program to new grads and growth opportunities for all of our doctors.
A special interest in surgery and dentistry is a plus!
For new graduates, we extend appointment times and limit surgeries on the schedule while they train with an experienced doctor on our staff.
This position can be SA only, LA only, or a mixture of both.
We have a multitude of referral options for specialists in surgery, internal medicine, neurology, ophthalmology, dermatology and behavior. We appreciate there are limits to the level of care we can provide. We take comfort and confidence in our ability to refer our patients to convenient board-certified specialists to attain the level of expert care they desire.
On average, we see 3-5 large animal appointments, 16-20 small animal appointments, and 5-6 surgeries per day providing variety to our doctor's caseloads.
Each of our doctors has one dedicated surgery day per week (where they do not see appointments/schedule other procedures based on their comfort level).
LA On-Call Details:
This is NOT a requirement for an incoming doctor that is only interested in canine/feline medicine. If a doctor is interested and wants mentorship, this is a great opportunity to learn!
We provide large animal emergency service for our established clients.
We share LA on-call equally between our doctors (doctors that see SA only would NOT share the LA on-call schedule).
Our weekday LA on-call hours are 8am-8pm. Weekend LA on-call hours are Friday through Sunday.
Our doctors are on-call one day per week which extends to overnight, and one weekend per month. We provide the following weekend off after an on-call weekend and the following morning off after an on-call overnight.
There is extra compensation and time off associated with the on-call duties.
Our Benefits include:
Full Paid Medical benefits (health and vision, dental available but not fully covered)
CE allowance with PTO
Two weeks vacation time off
