Sentinel Veterinary Specialists & Emergency is a privately owned practice, with an emphasis on employee culture and commitment for compassionate care for community we serve.
We strive to be more than typical. Sure, we offer the same things most places do - Residing in a purpose-built 8,000 sq ft facility, offering specialty & referral services, and providing 24/7 emergency care. Many of our goals are not unique - providing an enjoyable place to work & respect for one other, our patients, clients, and the primary DVM community. Our mission is not unique - we offer excellent, high-quality emergency and critical care with a kind heart, helping clients feel understood in order to maintain trust in both us and the veterinary industry. Staff development and modern technology are givens as they maintain ideal patient care, smooth workflows, and wonderful client experiences.
We are different in how effective we are at achieving these goals. Despite the size and movement of staff within our busy 24/7 facility, we are a family. We value the nuances of one others’ differences and care about making this job work the way we, on the ground floor, need it to.
We are also located in one of the best cities in the US. Missoula, Montana is a wonderful, tightly knit community of ~75k people nestled in the mountains with the feel of a small town but the services of a large city. Missoula’s attractive qualities have placed it on the map, and our population is growing quickly. An expansive number of outdoor activities for every season are easily accessed from town. It’s the place to be if you like horses, fishing, camping, secluded wilderness, family and community events, huckleberry picking, skiing, rafting, biking, hiking and all without the crowds found elsewhere ... it’s impossible to share the extent of Missoula’s unique and wonderful characteristics in this ad!
Our team came together through a shared vision and united moral compass. We are here because of a love for the community and treating the sick & injured. Our management’s main goal is to keep your focus on things that directly benefit the patients and our clients. We continuously look for ways to limit redundancy and refine workflows while maintaining checks and balances to minimize error.
Full time work is considered 9-12+ shifts a month, whatever you want. We pride ourselves in extremely flexible scheduling to maintain the life we want outside of work. Some enjoy working more shifts in a row, others like smaller blocks of 1-2 days at a time. Our pooled production model supports this variability and allows for smooth case transfers, ideal medical care, and scheduling fluidity (so no one is penalized for slow nights or schedule preferences.) That being said, being a team player for occasional holidays and nights is still required.
Helping to support professional growth, career enjoyment, and life balance is Sentinel’s commitment to you.
In our search for team members, personality is key, emergency experience is preferred, and passion is necessary. We are looking for experienced veterinarians who enjoy being a part of a cooperative team, have a calm demeanor, can be kind and patient with people even in stressful situations, and can manage client expectations well. Willingness and ability to perform emergency surgery is frequently a part of our duties. We work side by side with our local veterinary community and those relationships are important to us as a flagship hospital for the community. Doctors are also expected to know, offer, and be able to provide ideal care when elected for.
Sentinel is a purpose built and mission driven specialty & emergency center in Missoula Montana. We are a core part of the community and growing to fit the needs of our client and patient base.
