The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the national nonprofit association established in 1863 that represents more than 100,000 veterinarians working in private and corporate practice, government, industry, academia, and uniformed services, is seeking a Senior IT Support Technician to join our Digital Services and Solutions team, located at our Headquarters office in Schaumburg, Illinois – a northwest suburb of Chicago. The AVMA’s mission is to lead the profession by advocating for its members and advancing the science and practice of veterinary medicine to improve animal and human health.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Infrastructure and Security Management, the Senior IT Support Technician will coordinate and respond to requests submitted to the AVMA Help Desk by HQ staff, remote staff, as well as volunteer leaders. They will handle day-to-day logging of issues; answering questions/assisting users; troubleshooting and maintaining desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals; and when necessary, assessing, and escalating issues to our Digital Services and Solutions staff for resolution.

Associates degree, technical certification, or equivalent work experience is required
5+ years of experience with the following: Windows, Network/Internet environments, PC hardware, software, printer support, and help desk
Advanced experience with technology, tools, applications, databases, and Internet technology
Working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory Users and Computers
Experience with meeting room A/V; and hand-held digital devices (e.g., cell phones, tablets, etc.)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Highly organized with great attention to detail and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to lift and transport computer hardware for installation/maintenance purposes, as needed
Must possess a valid Driver’s License
Ability to work outside of normal business hours, and travel on behalf of the Association, as needed
