Clearview Animal Hospital (established 1981) is an independently owned small animal general practice focusing on preventive and proactive care and long-term relationships with clients and patients. We are in the process of completing a major renovation and expansion. Clinic opening hours are 8-5:30 on weekdays and 8-12 on Saturdays. There are no evening or Sunday hours and no on-call; we generally refer cases needing overnight care to an emergency clinic. We see scheduled 30-minute appointments and we do not add in “walk-ins” or emergencies. We will see a limited number of established, current patients for day admissions if scheduling requires. Most days, all employees including DVMs leave on-time or even slightly early.
We aim to schedule at least two technicians or assistants per DVM. We are usually successful at this. The support staff is skilled and highly leveraged, allowing doctors to focus on “doctor things”. The clinic is equipped with digital radiographs, digital dental radiographs, high speed dental station, and basic ultrasound capability. We have the usual in-house laboratory capability as well as using multiple reference laboratories (depending on what is needed), and we have lab test pricing set to allow us to do as thorough diagnostic workup as possible. There is a lot of room for an associate veterinarian to develop additional special interests in medicine or surgery if that is desired, and possibly for specialized “toys” if budget allows.
Clearview is, and expects to remain for the foreseeable future, independently owned as a single clinic. There are clinic policies and established medical guidelines in place, but there is also the freedom to practice medicine without corporate protocols or mandated formulary. We strive to give the best care that we can to our patients and our clients, within the boundaries of what is reasonable for us each personally and for the clinic as a whole.
We are looking for a part-time or full-time associate veterinarian to work a regular schedule consisting of at least 2-3 days per week and rotating Saturdays. There are no evening or Sunday hours and no on-call. There is a good deal of flexibility possible in what the associate’s schedule could look like; depending on the arrangement reached, pay could be hourly, daily, or salary.
LIFE IN COLORADO SPRINGS:
Colorado Springs is ranked by U.S. News & World Report as the second best place to live in the United States. It’s a large enough city and metro area to have all the expected urban amenities, but also has great access to the outdoors and wilderness for recreation.
They say there’s 300 days of sun here; it’s not exactly true, but the weather is generally nice. There’s some snow in the winter but also plenty of days when it’s 50 degrees and sunny; there are some hot days in the summer but it usually cools down at night. The climate is relatively dry and the biome is mostly piñon–juniper woodland. We are also prone to significant wind and summer thunderstorms (sometimes with hail). Colorado Springs is convenient for a wide range of outdoor activities including hiking, fishing, climbing, mountain biking, rafting, and skiing/snowboarding within a few hours driving time.
The cost of living is reasonable compared to many places, and Colorado Springs is located about an hour from Denver with all the major city amenities to be found there. Locally in Colorado Springs we have Garden of the Gods, the US Olympic Training Center, and the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo (voted third best zoo in North America, with the Rocky Mountain Wild exhibit the second best zoo exhibit in North America). The city is home to the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (the “Race to the Clouds”). Our local minor league baseball team is the Rocky Mountain Vibes playing at UCHealth Park, and our local symphony is the Colorado Springs Philharmonic performing at the Pikes Peak Center (which also hosts many other performances).
