Veterinary Regional Referral Hospital, currently transitioning to the 501c3 known as Newman Veterinary Research Hospital, is offering a stable employment opportunity in a state-of-the-art facility that has been serving the Tennessee Valley since 1994. We have a long history of providing specialty surgical procedures, as well as much needed emergency care. Our central location is vitally important to approximately 250 companion animal clinics throughout the region.
The transition to becoming Newman Veterinary Research Hospital will need an Emergency Veterinary Specialist to organize and revamp our current emergency department. Our goal is to gain a broader reach into the Tennessee Valley and offer an Emergency facility that surpasses all others in technology, diagnostics, treatment, and compassion. An academic residency is required and experience is necessary. A master's or Ph.D. is encouraged.
The priority of the successful candidate will include service to the public by offering correct diagnoses and compassionate treatment to companion animals, as well as efficiently developing the emergency department as part of the research hospital. In-depth work will be required, but successful development will be a major accomplishment for our profession.
Salary is commensurate with experience and will be discussed at the completion of the interview. Please view our website at www.nvrh-al.org or connect with us on facebook @myvetsurg.

Set in the heart of the Tennessee Valley, Veterinary Regional Referral Hospital has served the community for over 40 years. As the first surgical referral center in Alabama, we have successfully partnered with over 250 veterinary clinics and provided thousands of orthopedic, neurological, and soft tissue surgeries to help the pets of the Tennessee Valley live their best lives. We are also one of the few emergency hospitals currently operating in North Alabama. When the local veterinarian is closed or unavailable, we are here, offering knowledgeable, effective, and compassionate treatment to every companion animal that comes through our doors.
Our facility maintains two large surgical suites and a radiographic suite which includes x-ray, ultrasound, CT, and endoscopy. We have a complete in-house IDEXX lab and a water treadmill for physical therapy and recovery. We also have a large on-site classroom for additional training opportunities and Continuing Education.
Recently we were awarded 501c3 status and have begun transitioning to become Newman Veterinary Research Hospital. As a research hospital, we will seek to join veterinarians together with medical doctors for the purpo...se of research. Organized similarly to St. Jude, it will be a place where pets that meet specific disease criteria can receive treatment regardless of cost or prognosis. We will seek to provide intensive treatment for patients presenting with certain diseases that affect canines as well as humans, in the hopes of helping both species. Our motto is this: "Every doctor should respect and learn from all life to better help any life."
