Client Relations
Inspire trust in the client that the best recommendations are being made for their pet.
Fully educate the client, articulating diagnosis, what needs to be done, likely outcomes, and available alternatives.
Listen to client concerns and answer all of their questions.
Give verbal and written instructions to clients regarding home care for their pet and ensure that the client follows through on the treatment plan for their animal.
Develop long term relationships with clients.
Encourage clients to refer others to the practice.
Patient Care
Concentrate on being a patient advocate, encouraging clients to do what is best for their pets, without focusing on their finances.
Manage patient care in such a manner as to provide quality service to each patient while maintaining a smooth patient flow.
Effectively manage every animal’s medical needs, always demonstrating concern, compassion, and gentleness toward the animal.
Record Keeping
Consistently maintain medical records in a timely and accurate fashion to ensure that others can understand the patient’s medical diagnosis and treatment plan for future care.
Ensure that all appropriate reminders, follow ups, and recommendation codes are entered into the patient record accurately.
Ensure that client records are updated and accurate.
Ensure that client communications are completely and accurately documented in the patient and client records.
Ensure that all treatments are entered correctly and that charts are reviewed prior to patient discharge so that all charges are captured.
Management
Maintain a professional relationship with all staff and set a positive example for the staff.
Strive for harmonious inter-relationships with all staff.
Relay problems, concerns, and noteworthy positive occurrences to appropriate personnel.
Help to effectively solve operational problems and communicate with appropriate personnel in a positive manner.
Assist in staff education as directed by practice manager or medical director.
Identify training needs of technical staff and help conduct training sessions as directed by practice manager or medical director.
Participate in staff meetings, doctor meetings, consulting meetings, and outside team building events.
Continuing Education
Maintain and improve professional competency by participating in continuing education programs, reviewing current literature, and becoming involved in professional organizations.
Through continuing education, bring new ideas to the practice (both medical and organizational).
Strategic Planning/Marketing
Assist practice manager with marketing, compliance programs, and community outreach programs.
Assist medical director with implementation of new medical protocols and procedures.
Bring new ideas for medical and marketing programs to the medical director and practice manager.
Public Relations
Professional, cheerful, and helpful attitude.
Knowledge of all hospital protocols, policies, and procedures.
Able to utilize all client education materials within the hospital.
Active participation in the solicitation of new clients and the new client referral program.
Physical Plant
Help to ensure the building is kept in good working order, and report any problems to the practice manager.
Ensure that the interior and exterior of the building is kept clean and help the staff maintain the appropriate appearance when necessary.
Make sure all equipment is well maintained and in good working order.
Other Duties
Maintain technical skills (venipuncture, IV catheter placement, intubation, etc.) should support staff need help.
Help with patient care (administration of medications, cleaning cages, etc.) should support staff need help.
