Looking for new graduates to work at our small animal non-corporate owned hospital. We promote best medicine and do not focus on your bottom dollar. Working for us is about enjoying your job and going home fulfilled. What makes us different is that we do not have a large corporation looming over us making sure that ever pet receives the same protocol and that you are meeting the dollar demands every visit. We trust our Dr's and give you the upper hand on protocol. Why working for a facility with lots of Dr's over a small facility is better, simply that you are never expected to handle something you are not okay with on your own. We will never have you do a surgery because "your it". Veterinary hospitals are almost always open more than 40 hrs a week so if your facility has less than 5 Dr's it is almost a certainty that you will be faced with situations without other Dr's available for assistance.
What our facility has to offer:
Our hospital is fully equipped. We have an underwater treadmill, digital x-ray, dental x-ray, 2 full surgical suites, multiple blood machines, full pharmacy, ultrasound and 8 exam rooms etc.. (also we have daycare, boarding and training)
Who we see:
We see small animal's including pocket pets, reptiles, amphibians and avian. We mentor in small animal medicine and surgeries. All of our DVM's have years of experience and enjoy teaching.
Salary and expectations:
We base our salary on individual needs. What this means is we can accommodate financially and physically;
someone who wants to work a tremendous amount of hours and quickly pay off student loans,
prefers taking office calls every other appointment and enjoy mentorship until comfortable,
part time , under 30 hrs (this position does not include medical and paid continuing- ed)
temporary part time (under 30 to start) people until personal "stuff" works out, planning wedding, taking care of family member etc. etc..(this position does not include medical and paid continuing- ed)
We can work out of any of these salary/work options into another (so you can move from part to full and visa versa, mentorship to full on).
Typically we do not pay on commission (this doesn't mean, if your our most dedicated highest performer that you won't be compensated, it does mean that you are not in competition with other DVM's to snag highest paid surgeries, pick higher costs meds, instead of heading home at the end of a long day, make sure all of you dollars are under your heading. Our experience is this does not promote best medicine, or any where near a decent working environment and takes a real mental toll on those DVM's who are the kindest hearted.
We offer medical for full time employees, we pay a portion towards 1 of 3 options. This gives you the ability to find a plan that meets your needs and not be stuck with a plan that does not cover.
We offer paid time off which is dependent on hours worked. Paid family leave and sick leave are mandatory in NY State, (those big ads that some corporate have out, that they include this as a perk is..)
We pay license fees for employees working at least 30 hours.
We have 8 licensed technicians and 4 assistants who are currently working for us. We have 4 managers to handle client issues, financially and other. This allows you to not get caught up with people problems and financial problems . (Until you are expected to handle a disgruntle client on your own will you understand the perks of having this sort of back up) Our managers have years of experience and medical knowledge and are kind decent people. They also will help you with any problems you have personally including finding housing, a dentist, physician, pediatrician etc.
Take your pick, you can live in the city, country, or suburbia we are spitting distance from all. Housing costs are reasonable compared to the rest of the state.
