As a licensed independent contracted veterinarian, you will be Jameson’s primary veterinarian. you will work with our RVT/Healing and Medical Manager, Kathryn Nicole, and on-site medical team to ensure the Jameson animals receive the highest level of care and support. These animals include those on-site at the Jameson property, those in foster care, our Senior Citizen Pet Wellness Program members’ animals and those who require assistance from our community. The ideal candidate will be proficient in shelter and rescue medicine and provide care that is creative and effective with the appropriate team.
Perform spays and neuters on cats and dogs 2-3 days a week. Experience with bunnies and/or large animals a plus • Perform occasional specialty surgery and dentals as needed • Examine animals within Jameson Humane programs, recommend preventative care, diagnoses, and prescriptions as needed. • Develop regular follow-up checkpoints for each animal • Responsible for executing proper protocol when isolation is required • Regularly scheduled visits within all the programs; on-site, in foster and those within the Sr. Citizen Pet Wellness Program. • Work with specialty vets when necessary, depending on the diagnosis • Maintain accurate medical records and updates within our on-site system • Work with on-site vet techs and support staff to ensure all animals are scheduled for appointments and any follow-up appointments needed • Partner with our Companion Animal Program Manager and our Community Investment Manager to ensure there is strong communication and flow for all animal needs within their programs • Provide educational training to staff and clients as needed • Create protocols for the animals within the Jameson Humane programs • Work with our Community Investment Manager to develop clinics for vaccines, micro-chips, spay and neuter for those in the tri-county area • Be considerate of a fear-free approach • Establish and liaison with other veterinarians within the community
