Traditionally, veterinary practices have compensated associates by paying relatively low salaries or wages that are supplemented by a production “bonus” based on the monetary amount of services and products the practitioner provides to clients of the veterinary practice. Oftentimes these targets are unclear and subjective and lead to a breakdown in teamwork. Specifically for Doctors, while a production “bonus” rewards highly productive doctors, it also encourages doctors to retain case responsibility despite being out of the office, discourages mentorship of inexperienced doctors (as this time detracts from time that can be devoted to individual production), and has the potential to encourage the recommendation of unnecessary diagnostics and procedures in the interest of bolstering productio

Who we're looking for in this role.

This role will be responsible for ensuring doctor growth and medical excellence in existing and multiple new Modern Animal clinics in San Francisco (SF) Bay Area.
The leader in this role will have deep specific expertise developing exceptional veterinary teams, implementing processes with speed, excellent project management and communication skills, and thrive in a cross-functional environment.
In this role, we are looking for a leader who is passionate about pets and the people who love them, and is excited about rolling up their sleeves to bring our mission to life as we grow.
This role will require approximately 80% local travel across multiple SF Bay Area clinics.

Qualifications

10+ years of veterinary experience, ideally 5+ in a multi-unit operations or leadership role
Must have active license to practice veterinary medicine in California at the start of employment with Modern Animal
License must be in good standing with no malpractice or disciplinary actions
A collaborative go-getter, willing to roll-up sleeves and be hands-on
Enthusiasm for thinking outside the box, tackling complex problems, and identifying new ways of doing things
Operates with high emotional intelligence and exceptional communication skills
Understanding of Slack, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office Systems
This role will a hybrid position with regular travel required to the clinics in the SF Bay Area
There will be occasional travel outside of SF Bay Area for company meetings, events and training
