About Oahu SPCA
The Oahu SPCA was founded in April of 2009 and launched its mission, “Every healthy, treatable animal will find a forever home". The overwhelming support of community members was instrumental in helping to establish the first animal shelter in the state of Hawaii with a "no-kill philosophy". On July 18, 2009, 432 animals were relinquished to the Oahu SPCA in Largest Animal Rescue in the history of Hawaii. The Oahu SPCA rescued all 432 animals in 48 hours after the owner of an animal sanctuary in Waianae passed away. Oahu SPCA is a community center, providing the necessary services where families come together, volunteer and learn what it means to be a responsible pet owner. We provide a services to both the people and the companion animals of our community; (1) foster to foster care to rehabilitate both humans and animals, (2) community service opportunities to high school students, the first to work program and others, (3) volunteer opportunities, (4) affordable adoption opportunities, (5) the lowest cost sterilization and veterinary services available to the public, (6) and a shelter and rehabilitation program for rescued animals, giving them a second chance to prepare them for ...adoption. Animals make a significant difference in the lives of more than 60% of the families in Hawaii. The Oahu SPCA has assumed much of the responsibility in our community since we were founded to provide the necessary support to these families. We provide the lowest cost veterinary services including sterilization, wellness clinics and education, for more than 17,000 families each year in Oahu, Maui, Kauai and the Big Island of Hawaii. The Oahu SPCA was founded based on a no kill philosophy and is dedicated to humanly reducing the population of companion animals. The Oahu SPCA saves the lives of thousands of animals and improves the lives of families in our communities all over Hawaii each year. This is key to the future development of a more responsible community.
