Are you a night owl but hate the long overnight shifts and not having enough time to rest between shifts? Are you tired of never leaving your shift on time and/or working with insufficient support staff? Rockingham Emergency Veterinary Hospital (REVH) needs overnight doctors, and we are changing our schedule to make overnights easier and more desirable! FULL-TIME overnight doctors at REVH work 3 10-hour shifts per week- that’s 30 hours per week! Shorter shifts mean more time to sleep during the day, plus still have time to have a life, too! In addition to generous full-time pay plus production, we also offer a bonus of $500 per shift for overnight shifts ($78,000 annual bonus for full-time overnight doctors!). Overnight doctors can sleep when caseload allows, and we have a bedroom and full bathroom available for this purpose.
Our caseload between midnight and 7am remains low despite the current ER craziness everywhere, allowing plenty of time to finish procedures and records. Doctors can stop seeing cases 1 hour before shift end, and rarely need to stay more than 15-30 minutes beyond their shift. We have at least two technicians on staff all night as well.
All full-time doctors work a 3-day work week (day and swing shifts are 12 hours), regular schedules (not rotating) with shifts grouped together and long blocks of time off, and we average 3 support staff per doctor.
REVH is an employee-focused hospital, because as everyone knows, veterinary professionals who enjoy their jobs will provide higher quality patient care. ER has become more stressful and draining in the last year, and we are making every effort to keep ER the fun, exhilarating, and exciting job that attracted us all in the first place! We have a zero tolerance policy for abusive clients, encourage employees to stand up for themselves and their coworkers, and always have our staffs' backs. In response to the current dramatic increase in emergency cases, all doctors and techs have been given the authority to defer non-critical cases when needed. Turnover is low, with some employees having been with us since we opened 12 years ago.
We are fully staffed with experienced ER technicians! Technicians are well-paid, highly skilled, and properly leveraged so that doctors are free to do doctor stuff. All staff members are appreciated, respected, and treated as such- we value all employees’ input and offer a collaborative environment.
We recently completed a building addition and a parking lot expansion that nearly doubled our parking capacity. Our hospital includes a full in-house laboratory, newly upgraded DR Xray, ultrasound, isolation ward, and a surgical suite fully equipped for all soft tissue surgery, including electrocautery and state-of-the-art patient monitoring equipment. We have a new Snyder ICU cage, and an OGSI oxygen generating system. We do not have specialists on staff but we have IM ultrasound and endoscopy available usually within 24 hours.
REVH is in beautiful tax-free southern New Hampshire, minutes from Boston, mountains, or the seacoast. We are a privately-owned, well-established but still rapidly growing 24/7 emergency and urgent care hospital. Windham is an affluent but small town, and we have many repeat clients who are motivated and have the means to provide the best care for their pets. We have a great relationship with all local RDVMs, and we communicate closely with them regarding their patients. REVH is well known and respected in our small community, and in surrounding towns.
The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of experience (or is internship trained) and is comfortable with most emergency surgeries. A new graduate would be considered based on experience. A schedule that does not require any overnights would be available to new graduates so that they are always working alongside an experienced ER doctor. Above all, the ideal candidate is a good communicator, gets along well with others, and doesn’t take themselves too seriously!
