Lamoille Valley Veterinary Services is a well established privately owned practice in beautiful northern Vermont. We provide 1st opinion activities (wellness care, medical case work-ups and management, dentistry, surgery, laparoscopic surgery, reproductive services, extensive in-house laboratory, imaging, telemedicine, emergency and critical care). We recently launched an animal behavior clinic and are currently developing canine rehabilitation offerings. We have a canine blood bank on-site and all imaging is digital and recently upgraded.
We have a busy daytime general practice and offer emergency services between 8am and 10pm, to our capacity. Until 2016, we offered 24/7 emergency services and unfortunately discontinued due to increased demand putting too much strain on our daytime practitioners. We are working to reopen these services again, as the nearest emergency hospitals are both at least an hour drive from our building, and significantly farther for many of our clients. With the closure of one of these hospitals in March 2021, we find our area with a significant need. We have the work, the facilities, and experienced staff - we just need you!
This position is ideal for a new criticalist or experienced emergency veterinarian looking to develop something themselves. We are looking to fill the overnight emergency care need first, but eventually expand into 24/7 emergency care operating within the LVVS umbrella but largely separate from the general practice.
We are a growing team of 5 doctors (also looking to add another GP) and 26 support staff, and we believe in investing in our community and team members. We are proudly AAHA-accredited since 1988, Low Stress Handling Certified, AAFP Cat Friendly Certified, and currently earning our C-SAW (Compassion-Satisfaction Accredited Workplace) designation. We have support staff on-site around the clock to care for hospitalized patients. We provide a generous CE budget and opportunities and are always striving to learn and practice the best medicine we can. Our mission is "Patient Advocacy as a Team." Many of our team members have been with us for longer than 10 years.
Vermont is a great place to live and a great place to practice and grow as a veterinarian. We boast the highest pet ownership per capita in the United States (70.8%), enjoy beautiful scenery through every season, and the surrounding area offers many opportunities for outdoor activities like skiing, hiking, and kayaking. The work is always interesting but we remain tucked away from some of the less pleasant aspects of urban life. We're also the best state for COVID-19 containment!
Licensed in Vermont, competent in small animal medicine and surgery, and at least 2 years experience in emergency medicine - within the context of a general practice that sees emergencies is okay for consideration.
Additional Salary Information: Pay options are negotiable for either straight salary or ProSal.
