Veterinary Technology Faculty (Mexico, MO)

MACC is seeking an instructor for our new Veterinary Technology program who will be responsible for teaching the veterinary technology students in classroom, laboratory and clinical settings. This position is also responsible for evaluating student performance and assisting the Director of Veterinary Technology with other duties associated with the daily operations of the veterinary technology program.

This is a 9 ¼ month position with benefits including health, dental, vision, life, sick leave, retirement plan through the Public School Retirement System of Missouri (PSRS), and more.

This position reports to the Director of Veterinary Technology and the Dean of Workforce Development and Technical Education.

Responsibilities include:

1.    Teach classes assigned by administration. This may include small animal, large animal and/or laboratory animal/exotic species courses and laboratories;

2.    Develop course syllabi using the format of the Common Syllabus that will be provided by the appropriate dean. (The Common Syllabus has been developed by discipline-specific full-time faculty.) File syllabus with the appropriate dean by the second week of each semester or the equivalent period of time in a shorter session; 

3.    Carry out the policies developed by the Board of Trustees as executed and interpreted by the administration; 

4.    Prepare and submit at dates and times designated all records and reports as required by the administration; 

5.    Keep accurate and sufficient records of student grades and attendance. Submit the Census Rosters, grades, and attendance records to the Registrar by the requested due date; 

6.    Maintain the required number of office hours, and provide a copy of office hours to the appropriate dean; 

7.    Keep current undergraduate and graduate college transcripts on file in the Human Resources Office. These transcripts must show all college work earned, both graduate and undergraduate, along with all degrees granted; 

8.    Maintain current licensing with the state of Missouri and the DEA;

9.    Assist with the care and maintenance of all veterinary technology equipment;

10.  Participate in the development/revision and implementation of assessment plan as appropriate; 

11.  Participate in the accreditation process of the veterinary technology program;

12.  Participate in academic advising of the veterinary technology students;

13.  Attend faculty meetings as requested by their dean or the director of veterinary technology; 

14.  Participate on committee assignments and professional growth activities as approved by their dean; 

15.  Perform other duties assigned by the director of veterinary technology, their dean or the President.

Instructor working environment and conditions:

Indoors in a normal classroom and/or in a laboratory or clinical setting. Some work will take place outdoors. Work involves working with classroom and laboratory equipment as well as live animals of different species. The instructor is frequently required to stand and walk, bend and lift up to 50 pounds.
