Full-Time/Part-Time Veterinarian

Northeast Ohio SPCA is a no-kill non-profit pet shelter that is searching for a veterinarian to care for our shelter pets, as well as some community outpatients. 

Candidates must be DVM & DEA licensed and have some diagnostic and surgery experience.  The individual that fills this role will be responsible for maintaining the health of our shelter population.

Routine duties include:

• Assist in managing clinic guests, including those temporarily in foster care, focusing on identification, treatment, and prevention of health problems thereby increasing adoptions and decreasing adoption returns.
• Perform surgical procedures on shelter/clinic animals, as needed, (spay/neuter, hernia repair, growth removals, dental extractions).
• Maintain all established shelter/clinic medical standards, such as drug log/security, cleaning protocols, surgical procedures, medical protocols, etc.
• Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws regarding the practice of veterinary medicine on site.
• Maintain accurate and complete medical records, including those recorded in the shelter database (including treatments, examinations, test results, surgeries, and outcomes) and other records required by local and state laws.
• Collaborate with the shelter manager regarding the composition and quantity of all animals brought to the shelter.

The ideal candidate will understand shelter medicine, have worked or volunteered in a shelter environment, or be willing to learn. A great attitude and the ability to maintain good relationships with other veterinarians in our community is a must. Annual salary begins at $140,000/year
