Island Cats Veterinary Hospital was established in 1996 as an independent feline-only practice on Mercer Island, Washington. Mercer Island is a Seattle suburb located on Lake Washington that has an upscale, small-town feel. The practice clientele is generally highly educated and interested in the well-being of their cats. They appreciate Island Cats’ experienced, professional support staff, and the fact that the two practicing veterinarians have more than 60 years of clinical feline practice experience between them. Island Cats gives back to the community in many ways. We partner with local and global charities to help provide pet care for low income families, and to decrease human rabies exposure in Africa. The practice helps to develop future veterinarians as a Washington State University CVM preceptor site, by educating 4th year veterinary students during clinical rotations. He is also frequently invited to speak at the Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine and National CE events. Island Cats also takes part in clinical trials advancing nutritional and pharmaceutical knowledge for the care of future patients. All this combines to create the best facility for feline patients to receive care, and for newly graduated veterinarians who are passionate about feline practice to receive top quality mentoring and to thrive in their careers.
