Emergency Veterinarian - ER Mentorship Available!
Central Coast Pet Emergency Clinic
AMAZING EMERGENCY VETERINARIAN NEEDED FOR 24 HOUR PRACTICE ON THE BEAUTIFUL CENTRAL COAST
If so, read on- Central Coast Pet Emergency may be just what you’re looking for! About you: We are looking for someone who can fit our team culture and values; we love our work family and feel like it’s what gives our clinic such a special vibe. Here’s what matters most to us as a team:
You’ll have a great way of making clients and team members feel at ease in your abilities because you are kind, happy, and confident. You don’t need to practice perfect medicine, but you try to practice joyful, enthusiastic, and comprehensive medicine. You’ll be able to perform routine emergency soft tissue operations (such as foreign body removal, splenectomy, and caesarians) and medical work-ups. You’ll be able to use imaging like X-rays and maybe ultrasound too to help you make good clinical decisions. If you need help growing in ultrasound skills, we can help with that! You’ll be the type of vet who is OK with working with and helping to advance our standards of care. You’ll enjoy helping our staff learn and grow so we can strive for ever-improving medicine and communication. You’ll be a person who can manage time, priorities and gets the work done each day. When you leave the clinic, you can really leave without worrying things were left undone. You’ll be eligible to work in California and will have at least an internship or 1-2 years’ experience. We can provide mentorship and support, but you will be busy from the get-go! You’ll also be one of those people who can build trusting relationships with ease; someone who can help clients understand the right thing to do, by explaining and counseling them through both simple and complex injuries and illness. We’re not looking for someone who will work themselves into the ground! You should know how to look after yourself first and foremost because if you break, nobody wins. We’re trying to create a great working environment where we care about each other as much as we care about pets and clients. Profit matters, but it’s not the most important thing to us. Our people come first, then pets, then clients - if we get this stuff right, then we know that money will look after itself. We want someone who understands that life is about balance; being a vet, while important, is not the only thing that matters. There are a few other things we’d like you to feel good about:
If you can do that, we'd be very, very proud to call you a teammate. About the Role OK, Let’s talk about this role. The work you’ll be doing includes the following (it’s not a totally exhaustive list as ER is always varied)
About Central Coast Pet Emergency Clinic CCPEC is a 24-hour hospital who does primarily emergency and urgent care, though we have a small but dedicated GP clientele as well. We have been a part of the community for many years but went through a rough patch a couple of years ago with some less-than ideal circumstances. Last year, we hired a new managing vet and a new hospital manager who are passionate about taking care of our veterinary team, our patients, our clients, and our referring veterinarians. We are already reaping the rewards and are growing both our team and our practice. We are most excited about the ways that we can continue to improve the quality of life for our pet families. We like to offer the very best recommendations for every pet, but be flexible and compassionate whenever possible, so our clients feel safe and supported. We take pride in supporting each other, discussing challenging or frustrating cases, and challenging each other to learn and grow. We share what we learn in CE, print out articles, and generally subscribe to the “never stop learning” philosophy. It is VERY IMPORTANT that we have each other’s back and help each other thrive. Always. This is the way we try to approach our work, and we’re a long way from getting it perfect every day. But we try, and a lot of days we get close. Which makes us happy, because safe, happy, healthy pets are why we get out of bed. You can also expect a friendly, welcoming and open culture from top to bottom. Ego isn’t a welcome guest here. We want humble team-mates who like working with a diverse, funny, and slightly unhinged group of people. We want to work with people who push us to get better, who call us out when we might be wrong, who gently steer us back in the right direction, always with compassion, kindness and love. Again, do we get this right each day? Of course not, but when we get it wrong, we are smart enough to say sorry and fix any issues fast. Because team harmony matters.
