We are a small animal veterinary hospital providing care for cats, dogs, birds, rabbits, reptiles and pocket pets. Our practice is dedicated to Caring for Pets and their People by establishing and maintaining strong owner-pet-provider relationships based on mutual respect and consideration, communication, and compassion. We strive to treat each client as a valued friend and each pet as we would our own! Our facility is clean and attractive, offering our veterinary services in a friendly, informative and supportive environment. As a general medicine practice we provide preventive and wellness care; diagnostics and medical treatment; surgical and dental procedures; in-house laboratory testing; digital radiology and pharmacy; as well as veterinary diets and pet specialty products. We also have stong working relationships with our local pet emergency hospital and veterinary medical specialists for consultations or referrals as needed to meet specific patient needs.
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated DVM or VMD with a California license to join our Paso Petcare family. Outstanding medical and people skills required - with surgical experience preferred - but we will consider a new graduate. The ideal candidate should have an affable personality and great sense of humor; be self-disciplined and self-motivated; possess strong ethical character; and have the ability to work with diverse personalities and situations.

Responsibilities of this position:
Interface effectively with clients to create appropriate and understandable treatment plans for their pet.
Assess and examine patients to determine their medical issues.
Conduct laboratory tests on specimens to diagnose medical conditions.
Perform and interpret diagnostic imaging.
Perform surgery, dressing and treating wounds.
Prescribe medications and consult with clients to explain each medication, reason for prescribing and proper usage.
Collaborate with colleagues and team members to share veterinary knowledge.
Promote preventive care by advocating and administering routine vaccinations, and educating clients on positive diet and lifestyle choices for their pets.
Improve patient's dental health by performing oral examinations, cleanining and extracting teeth.
Practice safe and humane animal handling / restraint to avoid being bitten, scratched or exposed to infectious disease.
Humanely euthanize patients.
Ensure compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statutes.
Follow hospital policies, procedures and protocols.
Maintain complete and legible patient medical records.
Participate in continuing education to maintain up-to-date knowledge of veterinary medicine and professional standards of practice.
