Total Veterinary Care is committed to providing high-quality companion animal care in a professional and friendly environment with locations in Georgia, Ohio, and New York. We are excited to offer 4th-year clinical externships at each of our 4 hospital locations to veterinary students currently enrolled in a DVM program, with flexible schedules ranging from 1-8 weeks in duration depending on your school's curriculum. At Total Veterinary Care, we remember how difficult the transition from student to practitioner can be, and our externship program is designed to help you become more comfortable with that adjustment while developing your communication and technical skills in a busy and friendly environment. We have on-site CBC/chemistry, digital and dental radiography, and standard blood pressure, EKG, and pulse oximetry anesthesia monitoring. We are seeking students that are enthusiastic participants to work alongside our doctors and team members to provide comprehensive and compassionate care to our patients. Under veterinary supervision and in a supportive environment, you will have the opportunity to experience a typical small animal medical and surgical caseload, with a wide variety of both wellness and sick pet visits. You will work closely with the team to get histories, perform physical exams, develop differentials, and design/implement diagnostic and treatment plans for the betterment of our valued patients and clients. We will involve you in all aspects of the typical small animal veterinary business and will challenge students to develop their problem-solving and technical skills while encouraging questions and case discussions.

Please include any curricular requirements you may have during your time with us so that we can be adequately prepared to meet those objectives. A schedule will be developed with the visiting hospital at the time of arrival but will generally consist of a ~40 hour week, and business casual or professional scrubs are expected attire during your visit. A weekly stipend is available.
