Case Load Description:
Small animal clinical practice seeing primarily dogs and cats of all ages, shapes and sizes, some rodents and lagomorphs. Fantastic client base willing to provide the best care for their pets. Excellent relations with area referral specialists. We practice medicine at the highest level. Soft tissue surgery only, no orthopedic surgery but willing to consider expanding. No after hour emergency work. We are open Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday until 8PM. Thursday and Friday until 5PM. Doctors alternate the Saturdays. Each doctor assigned 1-2 surgery/dentistry days per week. Board certified technicians work with all anesthesia cases. Typical doctor works with at least 1 assigned CVT and trained assistant and receptionist. If you are assigned a surgery day you will not be asked to rush through to see appointments the same day. Each doctor's day is dedicated to either appointments or surgery, not both. Typical surgery day is 3-5 cases. Typical appointments are 20 minutes in duration. We have assigned nurse's appointment times and designated sick and well visit times. Emergencies during the day are seen on an as need basis. Doctors have option to work 5 day weeks or 4 day/6 day alternate weeks.

Hands on mentoring provided for less experienced veterinarian.
The Animal Clinic at Thorndale was established in 1993. We are now in a 4100 square foot building custom designed and built in 2004, beautifully maintained and clean facility in suburban/rural Chester County. We are surrounded by excellent school districts. Less than 1 hour to Philadelphia or Lancaster. Easy access off the Route 30 by-pass Thorndale exit. We have 4 spacious exams rooms, three of which have lift tables/scales and a 5th room with ultrasound. Isolation room available. Staff lounge. No boarding or grooming and very limited retail. Exam rooms open their back doors to a well stocked pharmacy and well equipped in-house lab. We also do lab send outs to Antech. Digital radiology and dental radiology. Large in-patient treatment/ surgical patient area. Paperlite computerized medical records. Dentistry area. Surgical suite. Doctors' office. Well trained and experienced and caring support staff. At present we do not offer orthopedic surgery but would consider expanding with the right candidate. Surgical/Dental cases undergo full pre-anesthetic workups, have iv catheters placed, and carefully monitored throughout induction, surgery and recovery by our board certified technicians. We love geriatric care, intriguing medical cases and those puppy and kitten wellness visits. Complicated medical, oncological, or surgical cases are treated in conjunction with referral specialists at Hope Veterinary Services and Veterinary Referral Center (both in Malvern) and the University of Pennsylvania. Responsibilities of this job:
All aspects of small animal clinical practice, including medicine and soft tissue surgery. Compassionate patient care. Skilled client communications. Taking a team approach with clients to care for their pets. Team player, leadership and mentoring of staff. Participation in staff meetings and case discussions with other doctors. Willingness to refer to area specialists as appropriate. Accurate and timely medical record keeping. Meeting and exceeding AAHA standards throughout the hospital. Helping in client relations projects. Attending continuing education. Writing a fun blog periodically. Helping develop and promote the hospital through social and other media. Providing the best medical and surgical care for our patients and compassion and understanding for our clients. Enjoying the practice of veterinary medicine and working with others every day.
Must be licensed to practice veterinary medicine in Pennsylvania and keeping current with continuing education requirements. Preference given to those with at least one year clinical and surgical experience. Newly graduated veterinarians may apply for this position as we do offer mentoring. Communication skills and ability to relate warmly to clients, their pets and our staff are most important. Must be willing to learn and to be a team player. Willing to allow our certified veterinary technicians to practice all their skills. USDA accreditation to complete small animal international travel health certificate (if not yet accredited, willingness to take the CE to do so)
Additional Salary Information: Salary based on experience. $90,000 -$140,000

The Animal Clinic at Thorndale, p.c. is a full-service American Animal Hospital Association member (AAHA) veterinary hospital which offers high quality diagnostic, surgical, and medical procedures. The practice opened in 1993 and we moved to our new custom designed building in 2004. At present we are a 2 doctor hospital, with 3 full time and 2 part-time certified veterinary technicians and 5 experienced assistants..
