The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society is seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join our team. The primary purpose of the position is to provide high-volume, high-quality spay/neuter and wellness services for shelter animals and community pets, including dogs, cats and small animals. The individual in this position must value teamwork and collegiality, and is expected to be a fully integrated member of the organization. Duties of the Associate Veterinarian include the following:
Provide all health care for sheltered animals
Provide surgical and medical services and care for a variety of well, sick and injured animals, including a high volume of spay and neuter surgeries
Provide direction and support to Veterinary Technicians and Assistants throughout the day
Assist cruelty investigators in the field and prepare forensic reports as needed
Collaborate with staff to determine approved animal-care protocols
Supervision of controlled drug logs
Ensure record-keeping is complete, up-to-date and used appropriately
Assist in ordering medical supplies and in the care of medical equipment
Provide input toward annual medical care budget
Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
Assist in staff training
Contribute to an organizational culture of collaboration and open communication
Attend board meetings as needed
Support and assist in special projects, programs and tasks related to the strategic plan
Performance of other duties as assigned
MHHS has been providing shelter for lost, abused and unwanted animals since 1887. As the oldest and largest animal protection organization in the Capital Region, MHHS receives an average of 6,000 animals per year.

Applicant must possess a degree in Veterinary Medicine from an accredited institution and two years of experience working as a veterinarian in a practice or shelter environment. High-volume spay/neuter surgical experience is highly desirable. Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities will be considered.
