We are accepting applications for a full-time, standing position as Assistant Professor, Veterinary Technology (Veterinarian) in the Veterinary Technology Program beginning August 7, 2017.
Responsibilities: Teaches an assortment of courses in Veterinary Technology including, but not limited to, diagnostic imaging, surgical nursing, small, large, and exotic animal handling and restraint, animal care techniques and clinical procedures, and emergency and critical care. Acts as faculty advisor to students and meets the duties required of all faculty. Activities, including recruitment, that serve the program, department, college, university and region are expected. Assists in management of patient care for animals admitted to the Veterinary Technology teaching clinic. Acts as the Assistant Veterinary Technology Program Coordinator. There is an expectation for some shared emergency responsibilities as the backup veterinarian for the MSU equine, livestock herds.
Qualifications: Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) from AVMA accredited program required; licensed DVM. Eligibility for licensure in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and eligibility for D.E.A. controlled substance registration is required. Significant large and small animal clinical experience is required. This position requires knowledge of disease processes and procedures primarily for small animal medicine and surgery.
Desired Qualifications: Graduate study beyond doctorate is preferred. Evidence of instructional or teaching experience is preferred. In addition, research experience is preferred.
