LIKE HORSES AND SMALL ANIMALS. A unique 12-Month, Mixed Animal Internship which focuses 6 months at an equine reproductive facility followed by 6 months at a companion small animal clinic.
Equine Portion: Equine Reproduction Concepts is a modern reproduction facility that is located in northern Virginia. Internship candidate will gain exposure to general and advanced reproductive techniques including, but not limited to palpation; ultrasonography; artificial insemination with fresh, cooled, and frozen semen; reproductive evaluations of the stallion and mare; collection and evaluation of semen; embryo recovery and transfer, foaling and neonatal assessment, student co-mentoring. 90% percent in-clinic setting/10% on-farm calls.
Small Animal Portion: Gain exposure and mentorship from a well-established, AAHA certified practice (Warren County Veterinary Clinic) that involves 8 veterinarians and two locations. Position will give experience in small animal general practice with modern diagnostic equipment including, digital radiography, ultrasonography, automated in-house hematology, chemistry, and urinalysis, computerized medical records (cornerstone software), and mentorship from experienced clinicians.
