Veterinarian needed (ad updated) for AAHA certified small animal hospital in NE Ohio, (Salem). We have recently up-dated this ad, so if you have read it before, please read again as things have changed! We are looking for both Full-Time and Part-Time general practice veterinarians for a growing, long established and very busy small animal practice. We are also looking to hire one Full-time and one Part-time ER veterinarian to work a second shift that goes out to midnight.

We are a full-service hospital that serves a large client base with services that include Wellness, Sick, Surgery, Urgent care, Critical care, and Intensive care. We have a large in-house lab, ultrasound, dental machines, digital x-ray machine, 2 large surgery suites, isolation room, large treatment area, with 3 ICU units and critical care cages, with facility to house up to 34 patients (no boarding).
With Mentoring and additional training for new grads, candidate will be able to manage small animal preventative care, surgery cases, internal medicine cases and daytime emergency cases. Surgery and emergency skills are taught or mentored. Applicants must be able to interpret in-house labs, eventually run labs themselves such as chemistries, CBC, Coag panels, fecals, urinalysis, etc., place IV catheters, administer IV fluids, administer oral, IV, IM and SQ medications, evaluate radiographs and ultrasound, administer anesthesia, place endotracheal tubes, perform surgery, calculate proper anesthesia dosages, supervise dental prophy on dogs and cats, perform extraction of disease teeth when needed, complete medical records and assignment of treatment protocols, be able to discuss disease and medication with clients. Individuals should have strong teamwork and communication skills; be able to work in a fast pace work environment; can provide staff with written and verbal directions, able to multi-task and use any computer, be able to stand, walk, kneel, stoop, maneuver for long durations of time; and able to lift and carry 30lbs. We maintain a flexible schedule so all get their days off and paid time off. We are closed 7 holidays a year until we get our after hour ER started.

Perform Wellness, Sick, Urgent and help with Emergency exams and design treatment plan based on knowledge and diagnostics.
Perform general surgical procedures or other therapies.
Administer anesthetics, perform surgery, and monitor patients during surgery and recovery along with the nursing team (nurses provide monitoring and recovery but doctors must be able to adjust protocols as needed).
Provide discharge guidelines for hospitalized and post-surgical patients and treatment plan guidelines based on established protocols, to ensure proper patient treatment in the home environment including client follow up post hospitalization.
Answer client questions and provide education on various aspects of animal care and treatment. Advise animal owners regarding sanitary measures, feeding, and general care necessary to promote health of their pets.
Educate the public about diseases that can be spread from animals to humans.
Call back/follow-up with clients; recommend medical progress visits when appropriate.
Humanely euthanize animals when it has been mutually agreed upon by the patient’s owner.
Document actions by completing forms, reports, logs and patient records.
Deal with clients and employees in a manner that shows sensitivity, tact and professionalism.
Provide guidance and leadership to the healthcare team that will positively influence the level of care and service provided to the clients and patients.
You must work as a team and be flexible. We work with all associates and staff to maintain a good quality of life but you must work with us to allow others to get a good quality of life too. That includes sharing patient care when you are off and helping to provide patient care when others are off.

Additional Salary Information: $80,000 - $85,000 annual salary for general practitioner and $85,000 - $90,000 for ER veterinarians with $5000.00 sign on bonus/relocation fee for each. Salary is based a Pro-Sal system and base salary is determined by experience. Excellent benefits including paid time off, paid CE, licensing fees, copay on health insurance, liability/malpractice insurance 100% paid, and more. We are open 7 days a week and to balance work and life the average work week is 40 – 45 hours/week (all positions). General Practice veterinarians work every 3rd weekend, ER doctors work a 9 - 10 hour shift and receive two days off in a row during the week.

As a hybrid practice we provide medical care that combines general practice, internal medicine, critical care and occasional daytime emergency care. The services we provide can be described as falling between a general practice and a specialty practice. The hospital is a large modern and fully equipped 9,000 sq ft medical facility that has recently been renovated to create a calm and fear free environment (pictures are on our website adamsonveterinaryservices.com). We have a full in-house lab, ultrasound, dental machines, digital x-ray machine electrocautery unit, 2 large surgery suites, multiple full parameter monitors and anesthesia machines, isolation room, portable oxygen cage, Snyder ICU machine, 2 ICU isolettes, with facility to house up to 34 sick patients. We have a large waiting room split into two sections to divide dogs and cats. We are open 7 days a week with doctors rotating weekends.
