Our Consumer Affairs Department is searching for a Corporate Veterinarian to join our team in Schaumburg, IL. The ideal candidate will possess the aptitude to provide strategic technical guidance and direction to all pet business units, external customers and consumers of our products, while cost-effectively managing the company’s product liability risk. He/she will also be responsible for leading Central’s Pet Division’s consumer satisfaction and complaint resolution program and for providing technical support and product information to business units and employees. Reporting to the EVP and General Counsel, the Corporate Veterinarian will lead, manage and oversee the Consumer Affairs Department for the Equine, Pet Health, Professional, and TFH/Nylabone products. MEASURES OF SUCCESS
Lead and manage external and internal resources to effectively and efficiently handle customer and consumer contacts, including concerns, inquiries, complaints and adverse events related to our products.
Oversee and manage outsourced vendors including the Working Solutions call center and the animal (Animal Product Safety Service) and human (Prosar) poison control centers. This includes functioning as a technical consultant and trainer for the company call center, and as a liaison to our poison control centers.
Directly manage approximately seven geographically dispersed individuals who comprise the Consumer Relations Department for the equine, pet health, professional, and TFH/Nylabone products.
Work closely with this group to resolve alleged product-related animal adverse reaction and property damage reimbursement claims.
Work closely with Regulatory Affairs to assure compliance with all EPA, FDA and Canadian PMRA requirements.
Assess cases, produce enhanced reports for regulated products, write annual Canadian PMRA summary.
Serve as a veterinary consultant and technical adviser to Equine, Pet Health, Professional, and TFH/Nylabone marketing teams, Legal department, Research and Development, Kaytee consumer relations.
Recall Management - Ensure call center and consumer relations department are adequately trained and staffed to handle extra volume of calls, investigate, document, evaluate and resolve all claims for reimbursements related to product recalls, serve as the face of the company to consumers in product recalls that injure or pose a threat to animal or human health, coordinate recall related company communications with business unit leaders, public relations, legal and other stakeholders.
Serve as Central's veterinary expert at trade shows and conferences.
IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES
A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (or its equivalent) from an accredited university with current licensure in at least one state.
A minimum of 5 years in companion animal veterinary practice and 7-10 years of management, corporate, and technical services experience necessary.
Must possess expert knowledge and understanding of veterinary medicine.
Must execute sound professional judgment and balance the inherent risk of complex customer issues while representing the company’s position.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with technical and non-technical constituents, strong program management skills, ability to interact proactively and professionally with all new and existing clients, remain calm under pressure, act upon constructive criticism, and adapt well to changing situations.
Familiarity with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and computerized database management programs.
The highest degree of integrity and discretion is demanded.
Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
