SoBran is seeking a Project Manager to serve at our Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) location.
OVERVIEW: Responsibilities of this position are that of a Project Manager for the MRICD-PHC, Animal Care and Research Support Services contract. This position reports directly to the Division Director, Biomedical Services. Responsible for the oversight of VMSB.
Essential Duties of the Project Manager II:
Understand and ensure staff follows all SOP’s and Quality Assurance Standards
On-site supervision to ensure that all functions of the contract are carried out in an efficient, courteous and professional manner
Generate monthly progress report and other related reports
Ensure that contract requirements are met, including proper staffing, training and AALAS certification requirements
Facilitate, and supervising when appropriate, all activities concerning contract personnel and project management
Oversight and management of the quality assurance and control activities of the animal facilities. To include, but not limited to, weekly facility walk-through, sentinel submission, feed and bedding submission, water testing and environmental testing
Monitoring of animal care, husbandry and other technical support activities while ensuring the safety, security, and physical environment of the facilities and personnel
Assist in oversight of protocol support requests and scheduling/assigning staff and other resources to accommodate requests
Assist in the creation/revision of SOP’s with contract, government and/or military personnel
Assist in the development and maintenance of relationships with representatives of government, military, research, and contract personnel in order to coordinate activities and assist in investigations into matters concerning quality and client complaints
Assist in personnel matters in collaboration with supervisory staff to include, but not limited to disciplinary issues
Directly responsible for daily supervision of the veterinary technical management for the USAMRICD and USAPHC facilities
Provide oversight of scheduling for the veterinary technical staff, to include veterinary technician supervisor
Report any abnormal conditions of the animal facilities and motor vehicles, or immediate vicinity to appropriate contract, government and/or military personnel
Participate in interviews and selection of all personnel
Communicate daily with Deputy Project Manager on facility and animal related issues, personnel issues, maintenance updates and project status
Perform all other duties as assigned by the Division Director of Biomedical Services, Government Operations
Experience Required: Must have 6 years of experience in a laboratory animal facility, 3 years of which are in a supervisory position. Must have a solid understanding for all applicable laws and regulations regarding laboratory animal care: for example, The Animal Welfare Act, The Guide, AAALAC accreditation standards and project specific standard operating procedures (SOP’s), as well as other relevant federal state, local and Department of Defense/Department of the Army regulatory requirements. Knowledge of IBM compatible computers, Microsoft Office software, and database systems is preferred.
Education Required: Must be certified by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) as a Laboratory Animal Technologist (LATG); and have a BS or BA degree in a germane major.
