Full time position open for new grad or open minded doctor who wants one on one mentorship and diverse case load in mainly small animal, with a sprinkle of horses, cows, goats and exotics. Don't want to go the corporate route? We are the antithesis of corporate medicine. The practice is fast paced but laid back. Our clients consider us friends, not just doctors and staff.
We have full in house lab, brand new digital x-ray, new ultrasound as well. Currently in process of going to cloud based veterinary software. No file folders here!!!
Case load is mainly dogs, but see a fair number of cats as well. Room for the adventurous candidate to grow equine and large animal. We do a high volume of soft tissue surgery and also do orthopedics as well. Our practice is lower cost, but we do not compromise medical or surgical protocol to meet those lower prices. We achieve the lower prices by efficient work flow. We do a large number of canine c-sections(over 250/yr) and other reproductive services on mainly French and English Bullldogs. We also have many rescue groups that use us exclusively.
Full time will be 4 days a week, with no on-call(practice owner is shareholder of local emergency clinic). Schedule will NOT be all the shifts nobody else wants to do. There will be weekend work, but not every weekend.
Mentorship one on one with practice owner, who has over 20 years of experience in small animal emergency exclusive, high volume surgery and mixed animal practice. Practice owner loves to teach receptive students. No solo shifts until new doctor feels comfortable being alone.
Best part--pay is NOT based on production. No pressure to produce x dollars if doctor is contributing to efficiency of clinic. Clinic philosophy is that production pay encourages economic abuse of clients unintentionally.
Starting pay is $80,000/yr split over 52 weeks. One week paid vacation after one year. Clinic is closed on holidays. CE allowance is negotiable-will pay for doctor to attend one large conference per year within continental US. 4 paid days to attend conference, hotel, travel expense and registration for basic conference included. CE allowance begins after one year of employment. Pet insurance through ASPCA for one pet, uniform allowance as well. We are currently working on medical insurance plan, but do not currently offer it.
If you are looking for a practice where the animals are the main focus and good medicine is required, then you will love it here. If you are looking for a practice that is driven by money, you will hate it here. The job is challenging but very rewarding......and you will still make a very good living.
Sense of humor, good work ethic, ability to get along with others. Ability to multitask without getting flustered. Surgical and medical skills can be taught and learned, but basic qualities that make you a good employee cannot.
Any candidate who wants to learn will find the opportunities for learning numerous. Must have an open mind about the way clinics run. We kind of break the mold in a lot of ways and it works really well for us.
Most important requirement is a desire to do a good job and treat people the way you want to be treated.
