The Cowley County Humane Society is seeking a Part Time Veterinarian (15-20 hours per week, days and times flexible) to be responsible for working with the Shelter Director to continually develop and maintain day-to-day operations of a comprehensive shelter medicine program, including, but not limited to: (1) diagnosis and treatment of animals; (2) caring for sick and injured animals; (3) surgically sterilizing animals (shelter and public low cost surgeries); (4) performing humane euthanasia; (5)working with staff, volunteers, and the public to ensure that adopted/clinic pets stay healthy and follow post-surgical instructions while recovering at home; (6) performing emergency surgical procedures as required; (7) providing leadership, direction, guidance and training for assistant veterinary staff, shelter staff, and volunteers. Must maintain DEA License (CCHS will reimburse for this expense if necessary) and be able to assist with lifting heavy animals.
